Sony may have mistakenly confirmed the name of its rumored updated version of the PlayStation 5–the PS5 Pro–ahead of its official reveal. An unlisted video on the official PlayStation YouTube account was discovered to be titled “PS5 Pro.” The video has since been re-titled to “PlayStation 5 Technical Presentation – September 10.”
This technical presentation was announced earlier today, as of writing. It will broadcast on YouTube at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET and last approximately nine minutes. The unlisted video is a brief tease for the presentation, displaying the PS5 logo, the text “the journey continues,” followed by dates and times. Though Sony has not officially released the presentation’s subject, the video title confirms that the technical presentation will concern a PlayStation 5 Pro.
Anticipation and speculation for the PS5 Pro has been ramping up over the past few weeks. After Dealabs leaked an alleged design in August, Sony itself may have teased the console upgrade in a PlayStation 30th Anniversary image earlier this month. The “Pro” moniker is pulled from the last console generation’s PS4 Pro.
Price and exact technical specs for the console are as-yet unknown. Back in March, leaked specs and a Digital Foundry report claimed that PS5 Pro would get a more powerful GPU and improved ray tracing. Earlier in September, an analyst speculated that the Pro model would cost $650 and that the base PS5 would not receive a price cut.
